Rats rally past Rochester

ROCHESTER — The River Rats proved to be resilient on Friday night.
Left wing Oskar Osala scored twice and defenseman Bryan Rodney followed with the game-winning goal in the third period as Albany rallied past Rochester to record a 4-3 American Hockey League victory at Blue Cross Arena.
Rodney, who also registered an assist, scored the deciding goal while on the power play at 7:04 of the final period for Albany (35-24-3-5).
Goalie Mike Morrison made 21 saves for the River Rats in relief of starter Justin Pogge.
After Chris Taylor opened the scoring 5:39 into the game for Rochester (37-27-2-0), Pogge left with an injury at 10:14.
Drayson Bowman drew Albany even at 1-1 with a power-play goal at 15:36, but the Amerks followed with a power-play tally of their own on Jordan Henry’s goal at 17:28.
Osala, reassigned to the Rats by Carolina earlier in the day, scored 1:46 into the second period.
After Scott Hotham provided Rochester with a 3-2 lead at 13:31, but Osala struck again with an unassisted goal at 14:08 to pull Albany even.
McBain recorded a pair of assists for Albany, which wins the season series at 3-1-0-0.
Goalie Tyler Plante stopped 29 of 33 shots faced for the Americans. The Rats return to host Wilkes-Barre/Scranton today and Syracuse on Sunday, with both starts at 3.
