Legein lifts Phantoms in OT
ALBANY — Right wing Stefan Legein scored a wrap-around goal 4:05 into overtime as Adirondack completed its comeback to edge Albany, 4-3 on Wednesday night in the American Hockey League.
The Phantoms trailed 3-2 late in the third period, but right wing David Laliberte scored with 1:07 remaining in regulation for the tying goal.
Goalie Johan Backlund made 25 saves for the Phantoms (17-16-2-0), who won their second game in their past three outings over the past week against the River Rats. Albany (19-15-2-2) now leads the 12-game season series with its Northway rivals, 5-2-0-0.
Rookie left wing Chris Terry scored a goal and assisted on another for the Rats, who have lost five of their past six games. Albany goalie Justin Peters stopped 30 of 34 shots faced.
The two teams next square off on Saturday, Jan. 23 at Adirondack at 7 p.m.
