Peters wins in NHL debut
In his first NHL start, goalie Justin Peters was victorious in Carolina’s 3-1 win over the New York Islanders on Saturday night.
The 23-year-old Peters, in his fourth pro season, stopped 34 of 35 shots faced to out duel Rick DiPietro (22 saves) to stymie the Islanders.
This is the fifth NHL recall of Peters’ career and his second this season.
A trio of ex-Rats helped Peters’ cause by combining on the game winner as Pat Dwyer scored at 15:36 of the second period and the goal was assisted by Brandon Sutter and Zach Boychuk.
