Bowman called up; Samson sent down

Rookie left wing Drayson Bowman has been recalled from the Albany River Rats by the Carolina Hurricanes, while right wing Jerome Samson has been reassigned to Albany.
This is the first NHL recall for the 20-year-old Bowman, who has registered 15 points, including eight goals, in 26 games with Albany this season. Bowman scored the Rats’ first goal in each of their past two games heading into Friday night’s encounter with Hershey.
Samson, 22, appeared in five games with Carolina in his first NHL recall, registering his first assist at that level in his NHL debut, setting up a Rod Brind’Amour goal in the first period of a 4-2 loss to Nashville on Jan. 7.
A third-year pro, Samson leads Albany in goals (13), assists (17) and points (30) in 38 games.
In a separate move, the Rats have signed left wing Tom Zanoski to a professional tryout contract.
